It must be remembered that if you want to write good English you must keep in mind that your English spelling must be correct so that no one stumbles all on a sudden while going through it. There are so many words that are misspelt very frequently. Unless they are taken proper care of the words remain misspelt all through the life and can not be corrected if regular practice and sincere concern is given the top priority.

Among the bunch of words that are generally misspelt the word ‘underway’ is one such confusing word. It may be used as adjective and adverb. In both cases the meaning of the words differs and we get different pictures from the two words. First of all it must be kept in mind that ‘underway’ is generally used as an adjective.
